Michael J. Lanser, M.D., F.A.C.S. — former surgeon transitioning into software development. Studying C++, Python, HTML, CSS, and SQL at Eastern Florida State College in Merritt Island, Florida.

About

A clinical career — and a new chapter in code.

Following high school graduation he served in the US Air Force and was a MA-1 radar technician on the F-106 fighter aircraft stationed at Hamilton AFB and Castle AFB. While on active duty he graduated from Merced College was an AA and a AS degree Following separation for active duty he then completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas in Austin and received a degree in Biochemistry. Accepted to medical school at the University of Texas in Houston. Following MD degree completed a 6 year ENT residency at University of California San Francisco. Dr. Lanser is a board certified otolaryngologist–head and neck surgeon with fellowship specialization in otology and neurotology. His career spanned academic medicine, surgical education, and clinical practice — from UCSF faculty service to hospital roles in the Western Pacific, Texas and spent at the several year working at the Orlando VA Medical Center.

He is now focused on software development as a student at Eastern Florida State College, working toward a Computer Programming certificate. Outside of coursework, he is passionate about kiteboarding and lifelong learning. Find his code on GitHub @knightkiter.
